How to locate your utility shut-offs

To locate your utility shut-offs, you will need to know where to find the main shut-off valves for your gas, water, and electricity. Here are some tips on where to find these shut-offs:
Gas shut-off: The main gas shut-off valve is typically located near the gas meter, which is usually found on the exterior of your home. It's usually a round valve that can be turned by hand or with a pipe wrench.
Water shut-off: The main water shut-off valve is typically located near the point where the main water line enters your home. It's usually found near the water meter, which is also typically located on the exterior of your home. This valve is also round and can be turned by hand or with a pipe wrench.
Electric shut-off: The main electric shut-off is typically located in the electric panel, which is usually found at the exterior, in a utility room, basement or garage. The panel will have a main switch that controls all the power in the house.
It's a good idea to locate these shut-offs and label them in case of an emergency. Also, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with how to turn them off and on before an emergency situation.
It's also worth noting that for natural gas, you might have a shut-off valve for each appliance (e.g. furnace, water heater) in addition to the main shut-off valve. It's important to know where these valves are located as well in case of an emergency or maintenance.
